Action plan for the chemical results of creek in Stittsville.
The most effective ways to show awareness in the phosphate pollution in our creeks and rivers are to write in the local paper on what you can do to improve the water quality in your area. Furthermore, writing to the city of Ottawa would get their attention and they could test for major problems in creek and drinking water while also raising awareness of the problem. The letter would include strategies to prevent phosphate pollution such as using a mulching lawn mower to cut your grass so that grass clippings are under control and not being thrown onto flat surfaces where rain would drain them into creeks and rivers. Also, if you don’t have a mulching lawn mower, you should clean up any grass clippings that have flown onto your driveway or street. Furthermore, making slopes from grass or other plants to keep the soil from being moved around by the wind or rain will help keep the phosphate in the soil and out of the water.
